Tragic Development: 5-Year-Old Dies After Being Found Unresponsive In Pool On Long Island

A 5-year-old boy has died one day after he was found unresponsive in a swimming pool on Long Island.

Emergency crews were initially called at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, after the boy’s mother found him in the pool at their East Moriches home on Woodcrest Drive, according to Suffolk County Police.

The 44-year-old woman performed CPR on the boy until medics arrived and took him to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. 

He was later transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition.

On Thursday, Aug. 24, police revealed that the boy died at the hospital.

No other information was provided.
